The Ebonyi State Ministry of Education has indefinitely suspended two head teachers following the circulation of a viral video depicting the poor condition of their pupils’ classroom. Reports also suggest the suspended teachers were accused of being responsible for recording or sharing the footage.

The video triggered widespread reactions online, drawing attention to pupils learning in classrooms with unfinished block walls, inadequate facilities, and deteriorating infrastructure.

In a letter dated May 18, 2026, signed by the Education Secretary of Ezza North Local Government Area, Francis Nwonunku, the affected head teachers were directed to immediately hand over all government property in their possession to the next senior officers in line.
